What are they doing?
Doubling up on some peoples disconnections .. So that others can be disconnection free?
This is ridiculous now

Rebooted Router at about 12:30pm today.

I could have told the OP why the Speed Test says AOL instead of Talk Talk.
( When his IP address starts with 92. )
It's coz Talk Talk use IP's : 78. - or - 89. - or - 92.
But AOL people are only given the IP's starting : 92.
And that is how someone with Talk Talk as their ISP can have a Speed Test say AOL
Regardless Which ISP... Talk Talk - or - AOL
Depending on what speed test is used...

We have now fully rolled out a fix to address the authentication issues. Customers should have now noticed an improvement in service.

I've cleared my router log so that I can be absolutely sure the disconnections have stopped.
And Now... Fingers Crossed!

Since 21st April 2010 ... Disconnections almost every day.

For the last 3 days...Constant Disconnections!
Then...
After the announcement on the Talk Talk forum... Disconnections Suddenly Stopped!
Until...
18:18:36 ( 6.18pm )

But that does not change the fact that your ISP is AOL and not TalkTalk .

The OCE reporting on the fix will be in contact with a Opel Telecom engineer .

Opal Telecom run the network , which is what appears in my speed test for my TalkTalk line . But all the same i did not know AOL had there own allocation of IPs .

Have a few theories as to... Why?

Look how quick the OCE's have jumped to say... " That's It Guys! - Problem Sorted! "
And from this day forward anyone mentioning Authentication will be treated as an individual problem.
Well...
They didn't need to fix every exchange to make this problem go away for them.
They only needed to fix the exchanges that they knew about.
The exchanges people had named.
The exchanges of the people that most get noticed on the TT forum.
Once the majority of the people on the forum are happy... Who's To Care For The Rest?

They only fixed the problem for certain IP Pools.
Both AOL and Talk Talk use the IP Pool starting.. 92.
But... Talk Talk seem to mostly use the IP Pools... 78. & 89.
AOL is glued to only using the IP Pool... 92.
So! - What if they didn't bother fixing the 92. IP Pool .. Coz they know it was mostly AOL people.

Perhaps they just didn't bother fixing the problem for people with AOL.
Perhaps they just didn't bother fixing the problem for people that came from Tiscali.

I'm now having a go at syncing as low as I can .. Just to see if that will help

Was Synced at...
Down = 12745 | Up = 1020 | 6db Profile
Noise margin drops slightly after each PPP disconnection. ( Had gone down to 3.5 this morning )
Now Synced at....
Down = 11791 | Up = 1020 | 6db Profile

Note: Don't Forget!
I was having the disconnections even when I was on a 12db profile.
The PPP disconnections were making my Noise Margin drop then too.
The only difference....
It would take 9 days of disconnections to get me down to a noise margin of 4.5db
Now...
It only takes 2 days of disconnections to get me down to noise margin of 3.5db

Attenuation... Down = 35.0 | Up = 17.3
