Have they always been 18 month contracts..?. I am sure i was told 24 when i signed up.

Don't suppose current customers can use the new 12 month as a get out of their current contracts can they..?

If you had a new line install when you joined TalkTalk, then the minimum period contract for that is 24 months.
I severley doubt that just because the are offering a new contract term to new customers is a get out clause, as they have not done anything to materially affect your contract. Unlike new price changes, which enable you to leave cessation fee free within 30 days of the notifications being posted

I am very happy with it and have no complaints at all. My reason is that i am relocating locations and going back to the parents for a couple of years while i study. Trouble is i am only 12 months into my contract. When i move will i have to pay the outstanding year in one hit or will they come to an arrangement. I should say there is no chance of transfering it to my parents as they are on a new contract with virgin.

Just to chuck in my two penneth worth. If you look across the forums many customers have been complaining that 18 and 24 month contracts were too long. I think this is a plan to meet the needs/desires of those customers.

They are too long, I noticed BT have gone for 24 months now on their packages, that a stupid amount of time, anything can happen in 12 months, never mind 24 months.

About time we had laws that 6 months contract is the norm, after all if they offer a good service for a good price then most people will stay, unless they are ADSLMAX who seems to move ISP's more times than some people change their socks

Not impressed with the 12 month contract on my phone service, but it gets me away from Bt and their silly renewable contracts. at least my broadband was only a monthly contract, only a few weeks and my sim only mobile contract will be up, not that I am planning on moving, but at least I got the choice

Im about a third way through a 18mnth contract with ISp, this only happned as the house i purchased had no line so they offered a connection for free if i agrred to the above. However i will look for a month to contract when this expires, even if cost more.
