sign up fee

just moved from bt to talktalk. was told if i signed up online would not have to pay the £29.99 fee. got first bill and have been charged this fee. customer services were not a great help.

Not surprise, they (talktalk) are bunch of lies!

Wait for 2nd bill before complaining:

The small print
No connection fee, credit will be applied on the 1st or 2nd bill.

No need to join member's forum.

Good advice but i would still register, some customers are having problems registering, better it sorted now than when you need to use the forum and cannot.

this can be a little misleading, we will credit the amount when you register on the forum. We have found so far that the credits often don't get added by the 3rd bill as you will be advised. If you register on the members forum post your thread under the customer service and billing topic and we will be happy to help.

I don't agree with this. It still misleading because what if the new customers had no experience how to join talktalk forum and some might work, some doesn't work. They shouldn't be charged in the 1st place when sign up on internet for free connection fee, why, why wait until 2nd or 3rd bill for a credit back into account. What if a customers was charged overdraft in bank of £29.99 connection charge on 1st bill ?

You cannot force users to join your forum just to receive their due. It is not in the "small print" and is contrary to contract. The small print said:

No connection fee, credit will be applied on the 1st or 2nd bill.
