Interleaved or Fast path

Before I begin I must emphasise that I know nothing about the subject, but am curious as to why my data path on my SMARTAX MT882 router specifiications is now showing as having changed from Fast to Interleaved.

My question is this. Can this happen of its own accord or does it require human intervention, and if so why would somebody at talktalk do this without asking me if I wanted it changed or why it was changed when I never made such a request.

Please keep any reply simple!

a line will be changed if the monitoring systems calculate that it would be more stable with interleaving on.
