Most likely nothng to do with BT Wholesale from looking at the results. Looks more like a BT Central congestion issue, which is down to how much capacity TalkTalk buy.

Change ISP, and probably doesn't even need to be AAISP, Zen, Idnet, Plusnet and offers are likely to provide a good service, as would BT Total.

Avoid O2, Sky as same issue is likely.

Agreed, I was just saying how the op can register this as a fault as speed is under 1200, but you can't go straight to BTw can you. I wonder if it can be classed as a fault though as it is only during peak times

Also agree that moving to one of the ISPs you mention has a great chance of giving a good service.

I have registered this as a fault on numerous occasions and BT do see it as a "fault" in the TalkTalk network. TalkTalk accept there is a problem but as their response shows they are unwilling or unable to increase the capacity at this time.

I now have a MAC and have decided to try AAISP. I'm a bit concerned about the rather mean daytime allowance but as it is only a 1 month contract I can always move again.

Thanks all.

Several years ago I signed up with Nildram (Lite) and over time the download speed has increased to (currently) just over 12 Mb/s. I had some timeouts and extremely slow download problems, starting about 5 weeks ago. Contacted TalkTalk (who now own Nildram and have moved me to TT Business @£17.60/mth - just for broadband) and was told to sign up to MyAccount) since then, practically every evening and often during the day at weekends. the problem recurs. Download speed is still 12Mb/s. Is it a problem of congestion at TT's DNS servers? (Another problem is that I don't know the account details held by TT and can't login to MyAccount or use their speedchecker as "telephone details and post code don't match!)

I was with Nildram for years, was moved to Tiscali then TT Business. I to had problems in evenings with TT 250K - 500K download speed. They would also not move me to ADSL2+ when it became available.
Now with Eclipse on 50Gb cap, no problems with speed at any time.
I am of the opinion that, as TT was unlimited, download was throttled for monetary reasons. As already has been suggested.

Might be worth looking at this

John Lewis Unlimited Broadband

Seems to be a resold plusnet product but with unlimited usage for £18 a month... bargain if you can get it on a market 1 i think....
