I quit pipex/talktalk at the start of November and checked that i was out of contract
by phone and email and also when i terminated my account
Last week I recieved a final demand letter from them for £66.68
for early termination the letter was the first i have heard from them since
my termination although it stated on the letter that they had informed me
of the debt various times which is a complete lie.
I then phoned them and informed them of the situation
they said it would be passed on to the investigationn team.
I have heard nothing from them since and this morming recieved a
threating letter from C.A.R.S baliffis for £86.68,they have added £20.
I have just phoned the baliffs and they say since talktalk have passed on the so called debt to them I owe it and they want it or they will send people around to
reclaim property.
Talktalk obviously do not care now since they have passed the so called debt on
and the baliffs want the money.
Talktalk actually owe me money since they took a payment out after my termination
and 1/2 a month should have been paid back into my account,I do not care about this however I do not wish to pay £88 i do not owe.
Any advice,phone numbers,would be appreciated.

I would open a thread in the Customer Service & Billing forum below, the OCEs will be able to help.

Also talk to the local Citizen's Advice Bureau
It should be pointed out that a number of contracts which after minimum term turn into 30 day notice contracts, mean that you have to pay for 30 days of service from when you notify about leaving.
Have you made it clear to the baliffs that you are in dispute with the original company? Also time to stop using the phone, but use a more trackable solution such as writing.

Dealing with bailiffs on your doorstep
You dont have to open your front door to a bailiffs or let them in.
Bailiffs can usually only come into your home if you:
leave a door or window open
invite them in
They are not normally allowed to force their way in by pushing past you, or putting their foot in the door.
If they try this, you can call the police.
Bailiffs are allowed to force their way into your home to collect unpaid criminal fines, Income Tax or VAT, but only as a last resort.

I owe it and they want it or they will send people around to reclaim property. They can't unless they have a Court judgement against you.
And they are probably not Bailiffs but simply debt collectors with the word "Bailiff" in their name. They mustn't use threatening tactics.

best number to remember is 999.
Harassment for financial gain is a crime.
Tell the bailiffs you are in dispute with the company over this debt and any further contact by the bailiff will be considered harassment, and you will involve the police.
If you have a local radio consumer show (like 3 counties radio (Beds, Herts,Bucks) then get them involved.

maybe also mention to them that the Pipex accounts take-over by TalkTalk has been documented as a complete balls-up for a while now, and they should think hard before taking on any more similar cases, as it will just be a waste of their resources.
