Re: Gone Live Today - Router Keeps Disconnecting

[re: deleted] [link to this post]

babis3g...yes I left a a message with the Forums webmaster about signing up on Friday and am waiting to hear...I guess they don't work weekends so hopefully I'll get it sorted this week.

Stats have really settled down and no disconnects since Thursday...latest are:-

Downstream Upstream
Data Rate(Kbps) 15205 820

SNR Margin(dB) 15.1 15.1
Attenuation(dB) 20.0 10.0

So 15 SNR margin looks to be very stable but interestingly the the DownStream rate has crept up since last time.

I've yet to find out what profile I'm on but I assume it'll be TT's default whatever that is. I'm thinking try the next level down although if the SNR stays where it is (and it doesn't look like going anywhere) then I may not gain anything. At least whatever I'm on now works so if I do try moving down and its a disaster I can come back to where I am.

IncecentalyI tried a different filter on my telephone socket (the one I'd been using must have been ten years old) and that's cleared the static noise up I noticed...it's crystal clear now.

So as soon as I can get into the TT forums I'll try dropping down a notch and see what happens.

You are still syncing low on an attenuation of 20 db which is obviously due to the high noise margin of 15db - TT's default is 12db. If you go onto the 6db profile then you should easily sync very close to the full 24 meg...at the bare minimum 20 meg. Are you now connected at the test (master) socket? If so and no further disconnections, then the issue is at your end. Also try using an Infineon chipset router as that will give you the highest sync speed...the TT supplied Echolife HG532 has an Infineon chipset.

baby_frogmella...I did try both routers in the master socket when I initially had problems..and in both cases the disconnnects kept coming. But after the line settled down I went back to my normal setup (after about 12 hours.) I also took the opportunity to check the wiring of the telephone socket and that was fine with just a two wire connection.

I use a Billion BiPAC 5200S and TT sent me a Dlink Dsl-2780 which I don't particularly like but it does synch better than the Billion by about 1Meg so quite a difference. Whether I could swap it for the one you mention I don't know but I could ask the question once I get into the TT forums.

So I'm happy with my setup although I still think there is some minor fault on my line...but if I can maintain the last stats I posted I'd be happy with those.

Any Idea how long the dlm takes to optimise a connection?? I think it may be ten days from looking around but not sure.

TT profiles are by default 12 db as mentioned - Interleaved (not fast path) and that is the main reason i am posting again

I am guessing that was your training time (once it synchronised at 15db by it self) so dsl thinks is better there
When you get register ask the OCE (are good in the their forums, better than phone support) to try lower it for you and see how is going

I have done the same and end up with 9db fast path now have ping 7-10ms and a very stable line (direct to exchange) at 2.400 meters away from exchange

Good Luck
I have a feeling you will get better connection than before from BT
Also i heard being in LLU is not affecting much by traffic or congestion at evening peak times (personally never had problem at peak times with ex-tiscali & now TT)
Morning , evening, night same speeds all the time ... so enjoy

EDIT

Did not mean to reply @ XRaySpeX , but in general, i clicked wrong

If you get no further disconnects in your current setup then ask the TT OCE to put you on a 9db profile. See how it goes for a week and if everything ok, then ask to be put on a 6db profile. If you like to faff around with your routers like me then you can ask to have DLM switched off on your line.
