Edit: apart from Sky free broadband that is not actually free as you have to subscribe to there very expensive satellite service . Stil leaves TalkTalk essential LLU the cheapest .

Plusnet is 1p cheaper at £6.49 smile

Admittedly it's only unlimited overnight, but unlike Talktalk they don't force you to take their line rental.

I have lost my line twice during the last few years

I have been a TT customer for 3+ years and in that time i have had hardly any problems and have never lost phone or BB for any length of time.

At midnight on Wednesday my ADSL light on the modem turned red and after rebooting i noticed i also had no dial tone.

I used my mobile to go to the help site where i put my mobile number and account number in the spaces provided and ticked "no BB" and "no phone" i immediately received a text telling me i would hear something in the next 3 hours, when i got up at 7 a.m the next morning i found everything working and at 08:30 i received two a texts the first telling me an engineer was on the case and the second that he had found a fault and it was now fixed, a few hours later i got another asking me to text either "fixed" or "not fixed" back to them,
Phone support may not be the best but my first proper test of customer care was not the nightmare i was expecting.

Used to troubleshoot a customers broadband which often involved phoning the call centre. (He hated doing it, heavy Scottish accent and potential indian call centre it never worked well)

He was originally with tiscali who had THE WORST customer support I've ever come across, but when I phoned up after they were bought by talk talk it was pretty easy going. Explained the fault to the guy, we did the usual 5 step question, I explained what I thought the fault was he consulted his manager who agreed and 1 day later we had a brand new router with some new micro filters and all was well. Rather painless

I often wonder when i read replies to threads about TT phone support in forums like this how many of the people posting have actually had a bad experience with phone support in the recent past, we have had more than our fair share of forum members here who still put down phone support even though they haven't been TT customers for years, i guess haters love to hate.

talk talk offer terrible speed, terrible service, and fob you off and blame it on you all the time, but if you enjoy talking to call centres in central dubai then they are a wonderful choice.

my current speed on a promised 8mps is 0.15mps, unless I go on after midnight when i sometimes get a faster speed

I leave them in 3 weeks and it will be the best thing I have ever done, I doubt you will ever find a more useless broadband provider than talk talk

I beg to differ, i have been a TT customer for over three years and in that time have only had two minor issues which were rectified in an acceptable period of time.

My speed is always high and always has been -

I have read what they are like - I just made a flippant remark.
