DSL dropouts

Is anyone else seeing this?

I have a 16Mb/s DSL link running at 8dB S/N ratio. It's generating 2-5 unrecoverable errors per minute.

More worryingly, I'm seeing periodic PPPoE dropouts, followed by periods of authentication failure lasting up to 2 minutes before the DSL box can reconnect.

In the last 2 days I've seen even worse failure - 10 minute of PPPoE reconnect timouts (Monday 8pm) and 45 minutes of the same (Wednesday 1:05am)

Pinging to my box is showing 75% packet loss on a near-idle DSL connection. If anyone else has set their DSL unit to be pingable I'd appreciate a couple more IPs to verify that what I'm seeing isn't unique to me. (I'm in the SE/Surrey - just outside the M25)

How are you getting PPPoE dropouts?

TT ADSL is PPPoA

You're right, it's PPPoA failures being logged.

The router is a Fritz!Box and it falls through to PPPoE when PPPoA fails.

mine just dropped out, I'll watch the counters. Downstream had zero uncorrectable errors.

Mines been fine.

My connection has gone down twice in the past 2 weeks due to network faults. but nothing like what your having

217 uncorrectable downstream over 16 hours, no sync drops. 54000 correctable RS errors downstream. No errors upstream. 7 dB margin.

217 uncorrectable over that period is pretty much ok. I'm seeing that many per hour.

Have you tried pinging back to your DSL IP from outside?
