In reply to a post by HTTP404:
it is possible that the OP's situation was not fully covered by "the script" or he got a "lazy" operator and they just gave a standard answer.
Then the TT website is just as "lazy" as it gives the same £2.50 SimplyBroadband for that area.

In reply to a post by flanzm:
The speed estimate it gives is only 7.7Mbps which kind of implies it's plain old ADSL rather than ADSL2+ which isn't available until BT install WBC at end of October.

if it was a resold ADSLMax, then the line profile would be a maximum of 7150 with a speedtest maximum of 6.9mbit. Would they ever give a 7.7mbit estimate on a non-LLU line considering this is impossible?

When I've checked with ISP's for LLU or 21CN WBC availability at an exchange, in order to get confirmation, I ask for upstream speeds. Often ISP sales don't know the difference between ADSL MAX and ADSL1/2/2+ and on an downstream attenuation of 40dB and greater a downstream throughput estimate might be less than 7Mbps for all modes. Obviously if the upstream estimate is greater than 448Kbps then it will be ADSL1/2/2+ (except of course in the case of MAX Premium.)

Not sure how that is my job? I was under the impression samknows actively sought out this information from the ISP's themselves rather than relying on people telling them.

There's a link that says "Spotted an error? Let us know". Guess what it's for.

No need to be condescending. I emailed them about a previous error (2011 - claimed an exchange was being LLU'd but wasn't) and got no where so whats the point?

TalkTalk haven't replied - can't even get a straight answer from their online chat folks. Even in a pre-sales situation I have to say the customer experience of this company is not good.

Finally got a definitive answer by checking with a couple of TalkTalk re-sellers - yes the exchange is un-bundled.

Thanks for your help with this - I'm going to try and ask my existing ISP PlusNet to cut me a deal as TalkTalk are nearly £16 per month cheaper for line rental, caller ID + broadband.

Vivaciti were good back when I was with them on a TalkTalk LLU'd exchange. It might be worth paying off your Plusnet contract early if the difference is that big?
