Being aged 71 does not help! ... I can remember my parents Co-op dividend number as that is imprinted on my mind but new things are a challenge frown

Don't worry I wouldn't recognise my own number either.

It takes me four attempts to even type it correct every time I call my ISP, and that's with it written down on a piece of paper in front of me.

Sorry but posting a personal phone number and masquerading as a bank/doctor/ISP/etc is a typical scammer trick.

BatBoy if I were a scammer then I would not waste valuable time posting messages here!

To prove that I am real here is a link to a screenshot of my Thinkbroadband speed tests that shows I used my mobile while the telephone was down and speeds are currently fluctuating lower than my previous 32 mbps. Hopefully this will pick up over the next few days!

As you see my user name on this forum is the same as I use for the speed test page.

Out of interest I got a fast mobile connection by playing around with the phone hotspot settings. This was shared with my PC hence the excellent speed test results. I am on Three PAYG sim only that has a call allowance that won't expire. The 120 GB internet 24 hour add-on only cost me 50p and this was
automatically deducted from my PAYG balance so it was ideal while my broadband was down.

I shall review my contract with TalkTalk when it is up for renewal and probably ditch the landline and the expensive line rental costs. Giffgaff currently have a £20 per month unlimited internet goodybag though hotspot tethering is limited to 6 GB.

My 4K Sony TV has an android screen mirroring HDMI connection so I could use that to stream video if hotspot tethering becomes limited. Families could use a spare mobile linked to the TV and use it as a landline whereas single people have the option of unplugging the phone from the HDMI when leaving the house.

I'm not saying you're a scammer, I'm saying you've accidentally mirrored what a scammer does, that's all wink

If you can't remember your own telephone number, how did you type it by accident into your post? Did you copy and paste it from somewhere?

Oliver.

I used a scrap envelope to jot down all the TalkTalk numbers; recorded messages and conversations with support.

I also included my number to read out so that they could send me text updates of the engineer appointment.

When I posted my first message on this thread I copied my number from the envelope. I amended my message to correct my mistake after I got a reply pointing out my error.

This tread is about resolving a complaint about low connection speed so I think that should now be the focus of discussion.
