Latency....

Is this fairly typical for a Talktalk line?

It's my mom and dads Utility Warehouse connection (who use TalkTalk as a their provider I think).

Thanks, they don't d/l much but when the my kids turn up the line is used a fair bit. I was thinking the minimum latency was quite high compare to my Zen connection My Broadband Ping

Although at the moment the green bit is twice the height it normally is.

Depends on where in the country and the type of connection e.g. ADSL/FTTC and factors like interleaving 35 to 40ms is possibly higher than average

Looking at BT, Zen and TalkTalk (all products) BT 51ms, Zen 48ms and TalkTalk 68ms median latency in July 2016 but BT ADSL is 81ms average, TalkTalk 78ms

BT FTTC 40ms TalkTalk FTTC 51ms

All figures are median and while will be slightly higher than a true ICMP ping, since those are TCP based generally are a good indicator.

Definitely NOT normal on a TT line, see my bqm:

However your folks are on a resold TT service through utility warehouse so it could be an issue at UW's end (eg routing issues, insufficient bandwidth purchased from TT ) first port of call should be UW support.
