Is TalkTalk setup now really free?

Just went through the sign up process for TT fibre. On the opening pages it gives a figure of £50 for setup which is crossed out - fine, but on the final page there is an additional set up fee of £60 which is not crossed out, and it states it will be added to the first bill. I exited the process.
Seems strange since TT seem to be making a big point about free setup.

Is this activation of a brand new line or a line with an existing and/or broadband service on it?

It should definitely be free - give them a call they'll ensure it's free.

We just got a new line installed free of charge.

My current set up is with BT Infinity 1, so it would just be the usual swapover. I think it must be a gremlin in the program/system. I did see on another forum someone else had seen the same thing..

It also think it is. I don't know about Res as I am on TT Business but I had a line installed for free. I pay £45.54 a month over 24 months, which IMP is good value for what I get.

TT are not really into conning people, they are only 1 of 2 ISP's out there (AA being the other one) who can detect my other dormant line in my house. Any BTW based ISP can not - so I can only assume the TT network searches better.

Anyway - call them, I am sure they will be happy to give you a free install

That's an upgrade which is right - a new activation should be too

Yes i am a TT customer of many year, i cannot find anything that says for all new and existing customers but have found this on the page where i signed up which leads me to believe it is the same.

Can I keep my phone number?

Yes, most customers can keep their existing number. But if we find we can't transfer it, we'll let you know.

All seems to be good now. All the sign up form pages are showing free set up as advertised.
