Your best hope is getting TT to reset the DLM on your line, but as they cannot switch it off completely, it probably won't be long before the DLM kicks in again and you may potentially be in the same situation again. Its a shame TT no longer entertain requests to switch off DLM completely because they were one of the rare mass market ISPs to offer this.

If you do end being banded/capped again by their DLM, you may want to consider switching to Xilo or AAISP both of whom do not use DLM on TT based lines and can manually set your downstream SNR to 6db or lower.

Thanks for the info. I will wait for the "complaints manager" to contact me, before making any further decision.

If you know the route of the cable you should be able to work out the line length using google maps.

My 6.1km line had an attenuation of about 63 db.

Have you been able to achieve faster speeds with pther ISPs?

I do not know the complete route, it is all U/G if it follows the main road then it is circa 5Km.

As far as attenuation, 63dB is the max. that a lot of routers will calculate up to. If I change to one of the TT supplied routers, it shows 63dB.

At the stage now of changing from TT to any ISP that will offer a fixed 6dB SNRM.

A bit of a late post - had some captcha "challenges" trying to join the forums.

TT changed to a fully automated line management system SDLM which appear to be overly aggressive on long and what it thinks are poor lines. Ex-Sky customers seem to be particularly effect as I guess their DLM was far more forgiving.

The slightly strange thing is that people who complain on the TT forums about this, and raise the issues to the CEO's office very rarely post back on the forums.

Guess some sort of offer is made (even if it is only being allowed to leave with no early termination charges).
