Community Login, Username error

I haven't used the Talktalk Community Help & Support pages for a number of months, but when I tried today, I was unable to login, as I get the error message, 'Your username must not contain any spaces'. However when I created the account, spaces were allowed and there seems to be no way to change my username now, to remove the spaces.
I tried creating a new account, but I then get the message 'that email address is already registered to another account'
I've read other posts describing the same problem, but could not see any solutions. Is there a fix to this??

- Just spent 4 hours trying that. The usual complete waist of time going in a big circle. Apparently the Community Forum is run by 'the community', and Chat agents can't help...

Is there anyone on here who could reach out to the Community Support Team (Debbie-TalkTalk etc) and get them to take a look at this? My Community username is 'New Forest Giles'

Could always use a different email and set up a new account. Gmail or outlook.

Morning,

I am on the community.

I have had a similar issue. I had to create a brand new username, use a different e-mail address and I am now waiting to see if I can get access to the old username and account.

I was told the issue was due to spammers creating fake accounts with - or _ in the usernames and they had to ban the use of certain characters.
