ADSL Connection drop

[link to this post]

I've got Pipex broadband that drops it's connection at about 7pm each evening through to 8am the next morning. The connection drops if I use any phone socket apart from the test socket behind the faceplate. BT attended and identified the extension wiring as the problem so I have run new cable from this master socket to the computer. I have connected it to the bottom half of the master socket plate removing the extension wiring but this means that the rest of the phone sockets in the house are disabled, and the connection still drops as before.
The problem would appear to be with the face plate at the master socket. Can I replace this and what would you suggest?
The other option may be to just plug the cable I have run into the filter but I need to get RJ11plugs for this. Are these available to buy?
Thanks,
warthog

Get a filtered faceplate as shown here. Any extensions wired to this will already be filtered so you would have to connect the ADSL modem/router to the master socket. You might also want to try removing the ring wire from the extensions.

Phil,
Thanks for the swift advice.
Will I have to plug or wire the ADSL modem/router to this face plate?
Which wire is the ring wire?
(told you I'm not very technical)

Yes and terminal 3, in that order. It's usually orange/white but there's no guarantee of that.

Yes, you would connect the ADSL modem/router to this faceplace and connect up the phone extensions to this too.

I believe the ring wire is wire 3, which is usually coloured orange with white bands. Some older phones on extensions may not ring if there's no ring wire, but this can be got around by connecting each phone to a microfilter.

Ring Wire Removal - I think this is Yarwell - Phil who posts here.
I'm sure he won't mind.
