Hi
Just wondering if anyone can give me a bit of advice on what to do about the following situation.
Have had broadband with tiscali for about 6months and everything has been fine up until a few weeks ago. For the last few weeks, during the day and early evening my router wont connect up, the adsl light constantly flashes. The router will connect later on in the evening, during the night and early in the morning. I have tried around 5 different modems and routers and all experience the same problem. I have tried changing adsl cables, filters disconnecting everything from the line but the same problem exists. As I say all the modems/routers I have tried connect fine late at night and through the night but not during the day or early evening.
I contacted tiscali and they sent out a BT engineer to look at the problem. The engineer couldnt diagnose anything but said the problem was probably due to the SNR ratio which was coming back at 5.5db. After the bt engineer left I regretted the fact that I didnt hassle him on what could be done about the problem. He did suggest contacting tiscali and getting them to reduce the connection speed from 1mb to 512kb - this is something I am in the process of doing. As I am writing this I am connected but the SNR ratio is 6db. The line attenuation is fine.
What I am asking here is what can I do about this, should I give tiscali hell about this until they fix it or do you think I am wasting my time. Should I call BT, Im sure they will tell me to call tiscali. What really puzzles me about this is the fact that it worked fine for 6 months up until a few weeks - can anyone shed on light on why this could be?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
If anyone needs any more info to assist me with this let me know
Thanks
