problem sorted DURING 10 day period-?effect on FTR

7 days ago my Zen 8mb Max connection was activated having changed from 1Mb fixed at Pipex.. I have had significant problems with disconnections but only between about 6pm and 6am (perhaps on average 5-6 disconnections per hour) with no disconnections from c.6 am to 6pm. This presumably related to significant interference at night. Hopefully I have now improved this by taking the advice from a number of sites. 24 hours ago I disconnected the connection 3 (bellwire) from the BT Master socket. The wiring behind the old master socket (not NTE5 and not BT marked and present for at least 25 years old) looked not BT standard fro the extensions. However disconnecting the 3 connection immediately increased my sync rate on reboot of my router from c.4200 to c. 8100 and since then there has only been one disconnect in 24 hour after which the line re-synced at 7392 kbps. It is a great relief to see that there may be some stability. The downstream margin (not SNR) is varies between at 6 -8db during the daylight and in the evening seems to drop to vary between 2-5 db; downstream line att. is 35bd constant.

With BT's 3-day delay in the BRAS profile you will see no practical benefit from re-syncing high in the day if it drops back at night.

If you're worried about the FTR etc firstly find out what it is after 10 days and ask for a retrain on the basis you have had a wiring fault repaired.
