will it get any faster???

Hi, ive been on bt total broadband for 13days now and the fastest speed i have been able to get is 1387kbps (from bt speedtest). I was only getting 0.9mb before i plugged my router straight into the bt test socket which then gave me this increase in speed.This was done on sunday.

Here are my test results from the bt speedtest...
IP profile for your line is - 1500 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 4224 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 1387 kbps
noise margin 10.3db
line attenuation 38.0db

I am quite far from the exchange 2.66km .
Any advice will be appreciated thanks.

There's 2 separate issues here.

The first is that you have a stuck BRAS profile, which should have cleared during the first 10 days, so you'll beed to contact BT Broadband about this. Even though you're sync'd at around 4Mb, you'll never get more than what you achieved in the test socket as your actual profile is set at 1.5Mb.

That aside, it looks like when this is resolved you'll benefit from a filtered faceplate, rather than using microfilters. This will eliminate the ADSL signal at the earliest point possible, meaning you don't get noise pickup from the extension wiring. Check out the XTE-2005 from ADSL Nation.
