Hi Peeps
I'm between 1 1/2 to 2 miles alway from the exchange and have the stats below.
What kind of speed should/could I be getting? (My ISP is AOL andI just been put on LLU)

im 1.9km from my exchange and my doofers are below:

Using this (http://www2.farina1.com/adsl/default.aspx) tool, it looks like you should be getting around an IP throughput of 7.15Mb/s on ADSL max, or 7.77Mb/s on ADSL2+, but it's all estimation.

That's about right for your line length. If your target noise margin was set at 6db, you might get closer to 7mb, not much higher than that.

If your line is stable then you would get the maximum 8Mbps if you can get AOL to reduce your noise margin from 12 dB to 6dB. However if your line's not so stable then you could end up with a large error rate and/or frequent loss of sync. The only way to tell is to try it.

It's only possible to estimate very roughly what you could get on ADSL2+, but I would say you might be looking at around 9-10Mbps on a 10dB margin.

Currently getting about 5.5 Megs download speeds.
I dread to think what AOL support would do if I asked them to drop the noise margin!
I haven't found them very good in the past.

Have you got a modem/router supported by DMT? If so, drop the margin yourself and see how stable the higher sync is. I would guess it is set at 12 because of instability.

If it proves unstable when you lower it, you have your answer. If it proves stable, then is the time to think about the hassle of getting it dropped.
