Mastersocket - wires become loose

[link to this post]

Hi

I was checking my mastersocket for my DSL connection and 2 of the white and blue wires that go into 2 and 5 of the socket have become loose...I managed to somehow get one back in and one of the phones now work...however I'm not 100% sure how they should squeeze back in...one of my cordless phones still doesn't work!

Thanks

Use the proper tool eg this. Almost invariably, if you force it in by other means, you end up needing to replace the socket.

Take the front off the master socket and it should disconnect all the extensions. If it dosnt then either 1) that is not the master or 2) the extensions are wired into another point (not the master socket) and you may have problems

Take a look at this

It will help you check out the wiring. Some DECT phones can malfunction if the incoming BT wires are connected reversed, but these are few and far between. It's possible that you may have a short caused by two adjacent wires touching. If you're going to be doing a lot of wiring, consider purchasing a metal Krone tool, which will both last a lot longer, and it will trim the wires to the right length too. You'll find lots of sellers of these on Ebay.
