Just looking for some advice if possible, cause I'm at the end of my rope with my Broadband.
Upto March this year I was getting a rock solid 4M connection, then suddenly it dropped to 160K and has stayed like that since (sometimes reaches the dizzy heights of 500K but few and far between).
I've contacted my ISP (Demon) a number of times, and to their credit they have sent out 3 different Openreach engineers.
However, each engineer is not aware of any checks the previous has done, so each visit starts right from the top (checking internal wires etc), then it lots of head scratching and sucking of teeth; D-side problem, E-side problem not a lot we can do mate then poof as soon as 2 hours are up they are gone.
I'm at the point now where the last engineer instructed Demon that I can't actually get broadband and my account can be closed at no cost - which is rich considering I've had Broadband for 4 years.
Loads of people on my estate are having similar problems, we are around 2.5K from the exchange on new ish (20 year) estate.
So I'm not sure what else to do; Demon aren't bothered, neither are BT both seem only to keen to wash their hands of me.
I just want an Engineer with some wit about them to help me out and don't mind paying for it cause I work from home (or at least try to), or maybe a new additional line would help.
The sad irony of it all is the first engineer came out with a trainee (learning the ropes) the trainee messed around with the cabling in the underground junction box outside my house and my connection jumped straight from 160 to 1200K, but then he must have put it all back as it was and ran cause his 2 hours where up, I didn't say anything cause I thought I'd get my 4M back and 1.2M wasn't good enough.
Oh how I dream of 1.2M nowadays.
Soz for the ramble / rant
Cheers
Dave
