hi all,i`m a bit green with this,so apologies if i get anything wrong. have had six months of problems with AOL on adsl max,my line speed should be 1-1.5 mbps, but cannot get more than 130 kbps. i have had 4 openreach visits, all giving my line the ok.my netgear 834g syncs at about 1400kbps with a attn of 61db,margin of 12 db.AOL then told me that the ADSL connection at the exchange had to be replaced, which worked for about 6 weeks, then back to normal. I`ve just MAC`d to Plusnet, and i have the same problem!!! is there such a thing as a faulty adsl connection? BTW, my Xbox seems to work fine at this speed. can anyone help, this is driving me crazy!

Was that actually from www.speedtester.bt.com - that site does not normally report the upstream speed, I'm looking for a result formatted like
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
IP profile for your line is - 5000 kbps
DSL connection rate: 832 kbps(UP-STREAM) 5696 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 4557 kbps
The important line is the IP Profile.

DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 1632 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 112 kbps
any help?

If you maintain the downstream sync of 1632kbps for several days you should get an IP profile of 1Mbps.
Have a look through http://www.dslzoneuk.net/adslmax_explained.php for an explanation.
Also look at http://www.dslzoneuk.net/socket.php?type=html to see if you can improve the speed.
