ADSL Nation XTE-2005 Faceplate Question?

Hi all,

Just ordered my LLU service and was looking at maybe getting a pre filtered faceplate (ADSL Nation XTE-2005 Faceplate) and wanted to know if anyone here on a LLU (ADSL2) service have used one of these and seen any better performance as in my stable line and download speeds. I do not have any internal extensions in the house and only have 1 phone which is connected to the main BT socket and is where the router will be connected to.

With no extension wiring and the correct use of a filter in the socket you are very unlikely to see any improvement.

Without any extensions an XTE-2005 will not give any different results to normal plug-in XF-1e filter. An XTE-2005 is essentially an XF-1e filter in a convenient faceplate that can be attached to the master socket, making it easy to isolate extensions.

If your existing filter is an el-cheapo you will probably see some small improvement when fitting the XTE-2005 due to the superior filter design but you are not going to see massive gains. There is nothing further you can do to improve the line further.

Well the filters i was going to use are the ones from BE but i am told these are cheap but not sure how true that is

You can always try them and if the router stats look poor try the ones that are said to be better

Not an exact example, but going from the el-cheapo filters supplied by Sky to a BT-Branded one I had lying about managed to double the upstream speed for my neighbour, so it's fair to say that not all filters are the same.

I'd second that, I have seen quite a few 'issues' that have been due to the standard filters sent with Sky kit.
