Re: New ADSL2+ Service Performance

[re: pieronip] [link to this post]

Hi

The higher margin has been set by the ISP's equipment (or BT Wholesales). You need to take it up with the ISP.

A few reasons it is so high:

1) The ISP is migrating lots of customers to ADSL2+ and wants to avoid support calls from lines that stop working so have gone for stability over speed.

2) Configuration fault

3) Lots of disconnections in a short space of time has meant the automatic system has upped the margin. This could be due to a line fault or noise or poor internal wiring.

Probably other reasons as well and not in order of likelyhood. smile

First stop is the ISP.

Regards

Thanks for all the help.

I spoke to the ISP. They changed the profile and I am now sync-ing at 17.200 Kbps.

Excellent!

Paul

Good news looks like I was spot on smile
You should see 17Mbps, but your SNR margin is soaking up a lot of that. If your SNR Margin was the standard: 6dB, you would get an extra 5Mbps or so. Your line length is about 1.6Km.
