Trouble with O2 Broadband

[link to this post]

This problem is maddening.

My O2 wireless broadband keeps intermittently dropping the internet connection. After phoning O2, they suggested I change the channel that my wireless router operates, but that didn't help. Further investigation found that the problem did not lie with the the wifi when I had the same problem when I connected my laptop to the router with an ethernet cable. O2 sent a new router out, but I am still getting the same problem, just less often. O2 broadband assistant pops up when connection drops and often fixes the problem (or broadband coincidentally pops up again), though connection will often drop soon after.

So, to clarify:
- broadband intermittently conks out (works great otherwise);
- wireless channel changed repeatedly, but no use and wifi connection is continually excellent;
- problem occurs on multiple devices;
- laptop has problem when connected via ethernet cable;
- O2 says there is no problem with the line;
- new router has not fixed problem.

Simple, isn't it!

Have you tried removing the front of your master socket and connecting the router to the test socket to rule out your own wiring ?

Without knowing how internet savy you are, it could be DNS issues, these are comon with O2 and to the non savy user could look like connection drop outs.

Reading futher into your post, i would guess at DNS issues. have a look at this excellent post on how to change your DNS servers.
