TOS:16 Dis in network?

For a long time now I have been seeing an increase in my SNR to 26.7db (from 9 - 13) This has resulted in a sync speed drop and consequently a noticable drop in Profile. I have tried every possible combination to try and eliminate any problems and on Sunday the line went dead to ADSL but not to voice on the BT line. Then on Tuesday morning it started working again.

Ive done the quiet line test and I am unsure as to whether I can hear noise or whether its just the phone its that discernible.

I have reported the fault to my isp who forwarded onto BT on my behalf and they say its a Voice fault either in the premises or close to the premises, yet I am loathed to pay the call out fee if it indeed was our fauilt without checking EVERYTHING first!

Now that was the background of my question and here is my actual question!

whenever I run a copper line test on my ISP control panel I keep getting the error code TOS:16 Dis in network report to OR.

I understand the OR bit but I can't seem to find out what Dis is exactly!


Anybody have any idea of what it is and how I may be able to combat it to get my usable internet connection back or do I have to take the plunge and get an engineer out?

I thnk it means you've an imbalanced pair - from memory but I could be wrong.

It certainly is an Openreach issue though.

Dis is short for disconnection.
