Does a Quiet Line Test cause a DSL connection to resync?

[link to this post]

Openreach are coming on Monday as had an issue with the connection losing sync for a few hours on Monday and Tuesday nights and Zen have said they can see a lot of upstream errors.

The resyncs have stopped but have a phone connected to the line and have run a few QLTs as was hearing crackling on the line.

When I do run these the router loses sync, is this normal?

No, I'd say there is a line fault, or maybe a filter problem.

Does it drop/resync when someone calls the phone

Everything has been changed (router, filter and patch lead between filter and router) and yes the faceplate has been removed too.

Thought initially it was a voice fault (and had hoped to avoid an OR site visit) but Zen say the error rate is borderline and so thought it was better to report as a broadband fault.

Phone isn't normally used on the line but good point to test.

Just tested now by calling the number and sync was maintained.

Did you just ring it or did you pick the phone up?

A QLT is no diff from an ordinary call, except it's so much quieter (you hope!).

Was more likely just a pair swap.

That's why I'm asking. But might have been new to the DP, plus a pair swap to the cabinet.

Wasn't here but relative was, eng said the cable was changed to the cabinet.

Cab in a few hundred yards away.

Anyway getting 4.25 MB now and sync is near 5.

Seems to be very steady.

Interleaving was altered and latency is about 27 ms but seems good so far.
