snr margin

can someone clarify what these mean? i know what attenuation means, but what about my snr, good or horrendously bad? Currently on pipex, soon to be be*

line Attenuation Down: 49.0 dB, Up: 31.5 dB;

snr Margin Down: 18.0 dB, Up: 28.0 dB)

What speed are you synching at? In isolation, the attenuation and SNR figures don't give the whole story.

im on 2mb, synching at 2272kbit.rock solid connection.....waiting for bethere to be activated

Be should have given you an estimate of your likely speed when you applied and input your telephone number. On MAX you would get 4.5Mb so on Be with ADSL2+ you just might push another 0.5Mb to 1Mb but no more with those figures.

See here for an estimate of speed on Be*. You should get between 4Mb - 5.5Mb with your downstream attenuation of 49db
