Broadband disconnects at 19:00 every evening?

[link to this post]

Hi

I get phone line from BT and use Virgin for BB - but just recently I lose BB (and voip) at a few minutes after 7 and 8 every evening....leave it until 15 past the hour and it's all tickety boo.

What might be causing this - BT or Virgin?

Many thanks

May be neither. It could be a local source of interference (maybe a boiler switching on).
Are you able to post your router stats (line attenuation, SNR/noise margin, sync speed)?
Are you able to graph your SNR/noise margin (quick polling interval - maybe 5-15 seconds)?

You might find this useful for graphing your SNR

For finding those stats...

In your internet explorer/web browser...

go to: http://192.168.0.1

Assuming you haven't set up a username and password, use the default:

Username: admin
Password: password

Then click "Show Statistics", down the bottom.

Its not a big deal, but why do you feel the need to tell us about your ping times to some arbitrary server?

Its only my opinion, but I think its a bit silly.

If you look in the Virgin.net specific forum you will find that this problem is effecting lots of people, so its unlikely to be anything at your end. I am having the exact same issues, BB with virgin is that bad at the moment you might as well go back to dial up. Virgins network seems to halt at peak times, this can vary between being totally disconnected or having fluctuating speeds, I have had both problems.

Dont bother calling there suport line, they dont have a clue about anything that is computer related. The only recommendation I give you is to move ISP.
