Re: I've just been fed this [censored] from eclipse - HELP!

Ive hardwired the extension directly into the connections on the board inside the socket. Into the little split blade connector thingies.

Naughty boy!
Unless you have the split-front master socket, you should not be going inside (but plenty do).
Any hoo, as you've already hard-wired the extension into the master, can't see any reason why you shouldn't go back in there and lift out wires 3 & 4.
If you find a 'phone on the extension doesn't ring, just fit an ADSL micro-filter there.

As for the router. My apologies - didn't notice you had the DG632. Unlike it's bigger brother (the DG834) your router doesn't show line attenuation and noise margin figures (you've a couple of lines missing in the router status / stats pages (or modem status / stats pages if you're in "modem mode").

I do have a split front socket Ade.
Like i said I've put everything back now, minus 3 and 4. Everything rings when it should and my sync speed is over 3000 I guess I'll just have to wait until the 3 days thing is up to see what happens.

Sync speed is now 3328 down and 448 up

But the speed tests are still only giving 1152 down and 361 up????

Is this because of the BRAS?

There you go - pretty much the same sort of gain that I managed.

Speed will stay low for a few days (the BRAS profiling).
Provided your router can hold sync above 2848kbps, you'll be on a 2.5Mbps profile (and will get a maximum data speed around 2300kbps, allowing for overheads).

The only way to get more, is to by an ADSL face-plate/filter/splitter (combined unit), fit your router local to the master socket, and run a USB or CAT5 (ethernet) cable to your PC (sorry, MAC).
If you do this, you may squeeze a bit more speed (you're only 96kbps away from connecting at 3424kbps - the minimum connection speed to get a 3Mbps profile).

But now it's all about finding a nice balance between speed and stability (it's no good if you push the speed too high and wind up continually disconnecting) - That's why the filtered face-plate and long USB or ethernet cable is the best option (that will completely isolate your ADSL signal at the master, reducing any effect caused by internal wiring/interference).

Nice one!

Thanks, not bad for a few hours work.

Still not happy with eclipse though.

I wasn't either. Their support (or lack of it), when I was having the same problems as you, made my mind up to migrate elsewhere.
Having to do all this messing about yourself is one thing, but when you go to an ISP to ask for help, and they fob you off with some rubbish like "that's all your line can do" and you're limited by a BRAS, is kind of taking the 'p'.
If us lot [on here] know how to fix these sort of things, it's about time the ISPs issued "help yourself to a better connection" documents. After all, we pay for a product and service/support.

Those of us that went over to max straight after the national roll-out were learning all this stuff by trial and error, and any fault finding skills we may have.
At the same time, BT and the ISPs were also learning about the product in action.
Now, some 5-6 months later, there's no excuse for an ISP not telling it like it is.

Not much I can do about it though, at the price, no one else is better and at the end of the day BT are dickheads for putting my phoneline on an exchange thats 3 to 4 miles away and on the other side of the Leeds Liverpool Canal!

It all comes down to BT being poor in the end.
