adsl max problems (entanet/freeola)

Hi everyone i hope someone can help me out here

I have been using freeola broadband for around a year now and originally started on a 2mb connection which was flawless in everyway. About 3-4 months ago now my line was upgraded to the MAX service for free of charge which did actually give me a speed increase upto around 4mb and was working great still, no line dropouts no problems.

Now fast forward to early august, i just returned off my holiday (i had been away for 1 week) i come to use my internet connection and i'm getting a 256k connection! so i think nothing of it first of all but a few days later i contact my ISP (freeola) to try and sort out the problem and they say there is a chance that the line speed was dropped due to you having no connection to the service for a while but it should increase back to normal in a few days. So i'm left thinking right ok no problem i can wait.

Its now mid september and i'm basicly running on a 1mb connection. I'm getting below what i was getting a year ago now.
i'm not sure what to do about it.... will BT be able to help out as my provider say the speed is set by BT and they have nothing to do with it

I've tried hooking my router up to the phone line directly and i still get the same results.

i'm connecting using:

USR 9106 wireless adsl router (connected to my computer directly)
isp = Freeola (entanet)

What does http://test.speedtester.bt.com:50301/ have to say ? You have to input the phone number and the ISP login username. Sometimes its busy / flaky so may take a few attempts.

I think your ISP is telling porkies. I am away regularly, and usually disconnect the router in case of thunder. When I return, I sync at the same speed as normal, plus or minus 64kbps.

What are your line stats?

Phil's much more expert than me, but for those stats I would have expected you to have a much higher sync, I have 56db d/s attenuation, but sync at 3264 with an SNR of 9db. I think you need to talk to your ISP's TS people.

At 37 attenuation 4-6M should be achievable, I think you said this is in the test socket ? You have been gifted a high SNR margin target which depresses the speed.

so from the above you can see the modem sync speed is only 1664 which isn't enough to get a 1.5M profile hence :-

hmmm.... looks like i'm calling technical support again lol at least the queues are short though

I called technical support earlier and they are now forwarding it to BT to try and fix the issue.

My ISP is aware of the issue with my connection and they say themselves you should be running at least 4mb with no problems going off of past records.

Right ok so after around a week now of bt speed tests for them finally something has been done and my downstream picked up by my router is now 7968kbps which is a huge improvement from what was picked up for the last few weeks which was about 1600kbps.

my final question is when should i actually notice this increase on my line? i ask this because i am still downloading files at about 1mb speed (roughly 110kb/s at the most) and i'm curious to know when i should receive my new speed increase. (hope i havn't jumped the gun too much here its just i havn't had a decent reliable connection for a while now and finally speeds like that are being reported by my router)
