Fast Connection - Slow Download Speeds

[link to this post]

Hi,

I have just recently signed up to Pipex Max (8Mbps)...

I'm having problems with my download speed... At the moment I'm still within the 10 day stabilization period so i know nothing is really going to be certain unitl it's over... But the issue is...

My modem is connecting at 7.6Mbps but only able to receive a maximum d/load speed of 30kb/s... I have downloaded files from many sources such as Microsoft & Fileshack and i know that they upload at a faster speed than what im receiving.

The flat im living in at the moment is close to 25 years old so i thought maybe an old phone line ?? i traced the line outside and noticed its a really bad quality cable almost looks like a dual core cable... it's totally different to the flats next to me. Could this be the problem ? and do you think BT would upgrade my line for free ?

Any advice you could give me will be very much Appreciated.

Thanks

Same advice given to others....wait out the ten days and see if the speed increases.
If your modem/router is connected (sync'd) at 7600kbps, then your line may well be OK.
Speeds are often low during the first 10 days, whilst the BT systems adapt to your line.

Giving UKFSN/Entanet a try
DL Sync 4600+ (now 2464 and screwed up by pointless 15db SNR target)
UL Sync 448
