VPN Unable

[link to this post]

I work for a business who regularly need to Vpn into customers, very recently we have been having a problem where unless some opens up a web browser and goes to a web page or does some kind of activity on the internet we cannot get a Vpn connection!

the only customers this has affected are ones with recent adsl lines .. with-in the past few weeks!

Was wondering if this could be something to do with ADSL Max?
it confuses me to why this is happening, and it frustrating to keep ringing people up to get them to check the net before we can dial in.
anyone else having similar problems?
any help would be very appreciated

thank you kindly

Possibly Idle timeout settings for the connections, either in the router or the PC. Also check that reconnect on loss of signal is enabled.

Looks good. I've been looking for a cheap VPN type solution for ages. I've downloaded and installed it OK, but when I work through the tutorial and try to connect to the public test network, I just get a DOS window with a ping command that times out. I can't ping the test server from a normal ping command or from my router's diagnostics page. My router's not blocking pings (I can ping other URLs) and the result's the same with ZoneAlarm active or not. Did you have any problems like this?

Thnx
Chip

Sorry, that should have read "I have some issues with Zone Alarm"

I have a few issues with it on other things and I'm now looking to use something different, however I found that when ZA was turned off Hamachi worked OK.

You might find the Hamachi Forums helpful.
