Is this ping to high?

[link to this post]

Hi all,

I have just recently started playing games online again. Upon playing COD2 I noticed that my ping was quite high, so I pinged a few sites to see what I got.

ping dns1.xifos.net -t

From what I can rememeber my ping is usually at about 60ms!! Is this too high to begin with??? I know I have interleaving turned on!!

I am with Xiphos on ADSL Max. I have no probs with Connection and its always stable. I am using a Netgear DG834 router. I restarted the router and PC to eliminate that being the problem.

Any Ideas what else i can try???

Ask your ISP to turn the interleaving off.

Surely interleaving wouldn't have increased the latency/ping that much?

Ideally those are the kind of ping times you should be getting.. Although traceroutes would be a more beneficial diagnostic tool in this scenario, so you can see where the lag is creeping in and therefore know whose ear to chew off to get it sorted.
