8mb ADSL activated today, requesting help!

[link to this post]

Okay I was on Nildram 2mb service but decided to upgrade to the 8mb. It has been activated today and it connects at 8mb, so no problems there. The trouble is when I run speed tests and downloads, the results from the speedtest on this website are as follows:

Downstream 2,298.6 Kbps ( = 2.2 Mbps )
Upstream 382.5 Kbps ( = 0.4 Mbps )

And downloading via http sites gives me a download speed for around ~350kb/s.

Here are my line stats whilst I was on the 2mb service.
ReceiveAttenuation_dB= 13
ReceiveMargin_dB= 29
SendAttenuation_dB= 4
SendMargin_dB= 30

And now on 8mb they read:
ReceiveAttenuation_dB= 13
ReceiveMargin_dB= 6
SendAttenuation_dB= 4
SendMargin_dB= 26

I changed my RWIN value to 166800 and my MTU is still at 1430.
Are my slow speeds simply down to congestion at the exchange? As it is my first day on 8mb and haven't had the chance to test it at a later hour. Are my line stats bad now? I live no more than 500 meters from the local exchange.

Any help is much appreciated, thanks.

it looks like congestion at t'exchange or Nildram. Get up early tomorrow and try it at 05:30.

You might want to change that MTU to 1500, both on PC and router.

You're probably still limited by your BRAS profile which will currently still be at 2Meg, check with the BT speed tester (http://speedtester.bt.com) and look to see what your "IP Profile" speed is.

This should sort itself out over the next few (3-10) days, if not then talk to your ISP.
