Faulty line

[link to this post]

To cut a long story short since Maxdsl was enabled my line has been unstable, dropping connections and getting stuck for weeks at speeds like 0.1 - 0.2mb

I've been with Nildram for 7 months and this week switched to Zen - It made no difference my downstream is still 0.1

Support thought the reason may have been that I didn't have a microfilter on the phone line downstairs so I waited this week for my bras profile to update - Downstream is slightly worse! from 288 to 160.

Here is my setup; master socket downstairs>microfilter>extension to phone in the living room

an ADSL engineer installed box upstairs, the only thing connected to that is my linksys WAG354G router. (I also tried a factory reset on this - no joy)

In the past the routine was this: normal - good connection for a month or so, then frequent speed changes 512, 1mb, 2mb, 3mb, then it gets stuck on a really poor downstream of 0.2 and stays that way until I phone support or something, but this time it has been 4/5 weeks and hasn't changed at all.

Support said if BT don't find a fault and have to do a call out I get charged

MaxDSL speeds - what do they all mean.
