Sky dish

[link to this post]

Might be off topic here but does anyone know what dish size I need to get for London?

43cm, 48cm or 60cm? does bigger mean better signal?

I have bought a Pace 2500 digibox (ebay)...is that model any good?

Thanks.

Sky minidish is 53cm. No need for anything bigger in London.

43cm should be fine for London. I'm using a 50cm?? (Zone 2) dish and Pace DS430N box.

Might be wrong, but I think the 2500 and DS430N are the same - mine is nice and fast and no problems with it.

Free? Not really. You pay an expensive subscription. (and your viewing habits are monitored)

Many of us have self installed dishes, etc, with no subscription as all we want is a digital replacement for the analogue channels. Or for use in a mobile environment in the UK and abroad.

Blimey...imagine someone knowing what you watched on TV !!!!

Seriously though, Just tell Sky their box interferes with a piece of phone equipment and you are not plugging it into a line. I did this and they stamped their feet 'til I invited them to remove their equipment and cancel my direct debit then all of a sudden they were happy enough.

It's only for the 1st year that you supposed to have it connected anyway

Paranoia rules, OK

I'd just like to point out that if you have 2 Sky boxes on the "Multiroom" package, both must be connected to the same phone line. And they do check it regularly.

I'm curious. I don't have Sky. Just how do they check that their box is connected? Do they send a request via satellite for it to dial out? To a free number I hope if that's the case.....
