ADSL MAX failure to implement ?

[link to this post]

Evening , I have been having a war with Tiscali over upgrading from 2Meg fixed to ADSL MAX !
Basically , I live 82 Metres from the exchange (Samknows) and these are my line stats according to my Belkin router (F5D7663-4).

Data rate down 2272 up 288
Noise margin down 29.6 up 25
Output power down 7.7 up 11.9
Attenuation down 5.5 up 2.5

Could someone please tell me if these line stats are stopping my upgrade from taking place ? I don't really understand what they are supposed to mean?
ADSL was enabled on my exchange (Par) 31.3.2006.
All the checker sites state that I should get 6.5 - 8 meg on the line , but Tiscali have failed to initialise the upgrade without giving me any reason ? I have been trying to get them do do this upgrade from mid December 2006 and each time I ring them they say , yes , no problem , it will take ten days , then after ten days they say , sorry , we don't know whats happened but its failed ?
I have amanaged to speak to someone at BT , who say that no faults are reported on my line on either broadband or phone line
Any help on this please

Cheers

Pete

Those stats are great. If Tiscali won't regrade you, ask for a mac and move to another provider.

Cheers, I thought that the stats "should" be quite good , considering I can virtually spit on the exchange roof !! I have friends up to a mile away from my local exchange getting 6.5 meg consistantly , albeit on other ISP'S and I know that there can be some problems with wiring , but I just don't understand why Tiscali keep failing to initialise the upgrade ??

Difficult to say. Maybe you are on Tiscali Datastream and they are low on their backhaul capacity.

I wouldn't waste too much time persuading them before I moved elsewhere. Plenty of providers wil give you max and your stats will do 8 meg with ease and if you have llu options, much faster.

With those sort of stats, I'd check whether any ISP's do have LLU provision at the exchange - you could do a lot better than 8M.

Yep, just looking into LLU providers and its only Talk talk (coming soon) on my exchange , so I don't know wether to keep plugging at Tiscali for a while longer because , as Ive said in older postings , ive been relatively happy with them as a service provider , its just this thats now got my back up !!

Cheers for the answers

Just a follow up question on this issue ? Tiscali still cannot provide me with a MAX product due to "BT System issues" ?!?!?!!!
If I ask for a MAC code and go to another provider , are these so called errors going to follow me to the new provider , or could it be possible that I will finally get my MAX product ?

Thanks
Pete

No, but another supplier with a better Customer Services might be able to explain what these "system issues" are, instead of saying "Computer says no".
