What IP for trace while connected to bt_test@start

What IP for trace while connected to bt_test@startup_domain?

Currently gathering evidence to hit pipex with and want to run a trace against bt_test .... but not sure what IP to run the trace against!

your post doesnt make 100% sense, can you provide some more information?

I *think* your asking what is the IP you get when your connected via the BT Speedtest domain so you can run a test from an external network to your IP?

No.... the problem is that my connex keeps dropping. I connect to using the BT_Test logon but cant see or ping any websites... presume its on some intranet. But there must be some address to run a overnight trace against so i can log the results.

It allows you to access the speed test pages. It does not give access to any other pages. That is its sole prpose, so it should not allow access to any other web pages.

If you want to access the web, including to run an overnight trace, you need to use an ISP. If you want a speed test independent of your ISP, you need to contact the BT Speed test.

What value do you expect to obtain from an overnight traceroute? It is a very intensive task, placing a far from negligible load on the web as a whole and if your machine is losing its connection, surely you should be looking for something far closer to home and between you and your ISP.

Hmm ok. May help if I sate my problem and what I am trying to achieve. May be that Im going about it the wrong way so any suggestions would be gratefully received.

Im a pro poker player and in the past few weeks my connection to the poker application has been dropping out on a regular basis in the evening. In the day it seems fine but evenings it is very bad, as you can imagine plying in a high stakes game with thousands of pound in front of you can end up as a bit of a disaster if the connection to the application drops out for 30 seconds and you lose the hand as a result... this has already cost me

from bt_test@startup_domain you can access www.bt.net so use that for pinging / tracerouting otherwise pick the default gateway or DNS server addresses that you get allocated.

BT.net will not return any packets... how do I know the address of the gatway/DNS server ive been allocated? All im trying to do is spot if the connection is dropping on BT... but I've not idea when I wake in the morning as the router re-syncs after a drop?

the router status page should show the gateway, DNS etc.

Get a mate to go on at the same time and ping each other ?
