Download much slower than upload speed BT

[link to this post]

I was originally with Orange Broadband in December but was getting download speeds of circa 236 kbps on average. Upload was always circa 378kbps. After being constantly fobbed off by Orange support I changed to BT and now the speeds have got even slower down to circa 127kbps. I have followed all advice about the filters, plugging the homehub into the master socket etc and still it is just double the speed of dial-up. The max I should get is up to 2MB so I am only getting 5% of that. My daily call to BT involves the same story over and over and still they have not done anything about it.

Has anyone else had situations like this because if it something I can fix myself then I would instead of waiting ages for BT to do nothing.

After many discussions spent with BT in India a nice chap in the UK did a check and noted there was a bit of noise on the line 62DB to be precise. He reckons this could be the problem and as I am now down to 128kbps I hope it is!
