Setup disk??? It's a router. As others have suggested, a factory reset is the next move, then using a known good ethernet cable pointing your web browser at the IP address of the router LAN interface. Make sure your pc is configured for dhcp - or fixed IP on the same subnet as the router factory default IP address.

Setup disk.....
It came with the router and installes via a series of instructions but it needs to find the router first. it says it it not connected or the cable is unpluged.
as in first post.
I have factory reset.
i have replaced the modem and cables with new ones
Pointing the web browser does nothing (192.168.0.1)
It just stopped working. i have been using the first one for 4 months with no problems.
the network icon in the system tray just hangs on "Acquiring network address"
i think there might be a problem with the motherboard as i remember seeing on the asus forums about people losing thier Mac address.

It seems as though others are ignoring, and perhaps yourself, the obvious...it's broken. The service works with a different modem, so thats not the problem, you cannot 'see' the router from your PC, ergo, it's borked. Time to stump up for a replacement.

But you said that you'd tried two different LAN ports - Nvidia and Marvel? 'Acquiring network address' means the PC is not getting an IP address from DHCP on the router, but as you've changed all the relevant hardware and reinstalled Windoze it's a puzzle why. You might try configuring a static IP address on the PC to eliminate DHCP from the equation. You need an address in the router's subnet, and you need the default gateway to be the IP address of the router. I think the DG834 router also acts as DNS as well, but if you try connecting to the config web page then that doesn't matter for now. Throw away the router 'setup disk' - they're just a nuisance at the best of times.

Not exactly - the OP said in the first post that he'd already exchanged the router for a new one (by which I assume he meant a new ethernet connected router?). The Speedtouch 330 works, but that's USB connected.
