I have to post in the Technical Issues as my speed is so slow that the main forum page does not load that far down!
I am on the Barnsley exchange and Plusnet (neighbour knocked on door and her Sky broadband is slow also). Plusnet's first response was exchange red and slow speed due to contention. I have tried speedtester.bt.com several times and only had success once at 6:30am where I got 20k. my normal speed has been in the region of 950k which given my distance is OK. The majority of times using the speedtester I get an error saying the username or phone number doesnt match the account. On the attempt that was "successful" it prompted to use the bt_test_user this came back with an error saying I hadn't set to bt_test_user but was appeared to be a demon adsl server address!
Can anyone shed any light on what is happening to the Barnsley exchange, when BT might have it fixed? It has been a problem since about midday on Saturday. I would have thought this would have been a priority as I imagine the Barnsley exchange serves a reasonable number of customers.
Or has anyone got any other suggestions as to why connection is so slow.
Currently on samknows.com to get any info but as expected the page hasn't loaded,but it has only been 5mins!

Whilst waiting to post my connection has dropped a couple of times so I've fingers crossed this is the exchange being fixed.
