In reply to:

Some of the figures posted here seem a little high, syncing at well over 5mb with attenuation in the low 50s seem high

Attenuation 52.0, recently 51.5, sync never under 5120 as long as I do it before 9am. Virtually never loses sync. Confirmed by repeated BT Speedtester result saying IP Profile 4500, and TB speedtester giving up to 42nn actual speed. And I'm talking about over a year of monitoring.

In reply to:

What kind of sync are you geting?

Just over 4 Mb sync on a 53 dB attenuation.

Sometimes my attenuation is shown as 54 dB though.

In reply to:

And what SNR do you find gives you a stable line

I used to need a 9 dB noise margin to stabilise my connection but since buying a SpeedTouch 585, my connection is stable on the default 6 dB setting although in the evenings my SNR drops to around 3 or 4 dB but the connection still holds as the 585 seems particularly good at holding on to the sync on long lines like mine.

During the day my line syncs at 37xx - 38xx (was 44xx when first activated 2 years ago) but drops a lot.

As ADSL Max has only been availble since April last year (IIRC) wouldn't that mean that originnally on a fixed speed service at 4mbps then moved onto the Max service which has resulted in different speeds?

No, Sorry Darren.

I have been on LLU up to 8 Mbit since april 2005.

No-where in my posts have I mentioned being on a bt derived service.

I would have thought my sig would have given the LLU part away.

Kel.

Edit to correct typo.
