ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 8128 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 26 db 8 db
Noise Margin 16 db 25 db
The downstream noise margin sometimes drops to 12-13 but by and large is always around 16-17.
A couple of weeks ago I started to get loss of synch problems every minute or so, one time 279 overnight. I tried all the usual problem solving, changing filters, trying different routers, plugging staight into the faceplate. Didn't make any difference. I have no other extention and only a phone connected to the line. I even reformated and installed windows again.
I noticed a trend when it was windy the problem was at it's worst. So a BT engineer called today to test the line.
He tested the dial up and said it was one of the best he had seen. He then tested the broadband and got the same stats that my router was showing. He couldn't understand why I was synching at 16db and getting 8128kb download speed. I am about 2km from the exchange.
He went outside and wacked the line with a pole a few times but there was no synch loss.
So he went away a bit baffled and will try and set my noise margin lower.
Anyone have any ideas what the problem could be?
