Check Stats Please Netgear DG834G

Over the moon the only ADSL that i have had was supplied by tiscali and for 8 months frequent disconnects and no connection to sites. (goodbye Tiscali)
Was due to start service with BT Max tomorrow 21st March. However my internet and phone stopped working lunchtime,and i realised that BT were working at the exchange removing my connection from LLU Tiscali and connecting to BT
I Reset the router and connected i noticed the attenuation was down 7 to 40db and the margin was 9db this has dropped from 9 db to the figure shown 1 db at peaktime
can you tell me if my margin drops below 0 will i be put on a slower speed.
And do BT set up the attenuation when my line is enabled for ADSL ie previous 47db now 40db

Edit to my post noise margin in the morning is 10 db and peak time fluctuated between
6 and 1 db downstream.

netgears are prone to reporting wandering Noise Margin figures but usually hang on to the line anyway. If it goes too low or has too many errors the modem and exchange will retrain and the speed may drop a little. This process goes on for ever - nobody fixes the speed.

The attenuation is a measurement, it seems unlikely that you lost 7 dB of actual attenuation (equivalent to more than 500m of extra line length) so that is a bit strange.
