Are these stats ok - can they be improved?

[link to this post]

Hello all,

I've just upgraded all our phones sockets, one NTE and 2 extensions with ADSL nation XTF faceplates. Our router is on the 2nd extension.

Router is SpeedTouch 546 v6 (Software Release: 6.1.4.6), ISP is Zen.

My stats (from the router homepage), before the new filters, were:

Speed (up/down): 448 / 7456
Output power (up/down): 12.0 / 19.5
Line Attenuation (up/down): 20.0 / 33.0
SN Margin (up/down): 27.0 / 9.5

After the install they are quite similar:

Speed (up/down): 448 / 8096
Output power (up/down): 12.0 / 19.5
Line Attenuation (up/down): 20.0 / 32.0
SN Margin (up/down): 27.0 / 8.0

(The actual speed test on this site varies quite a bit in the day as I assume does others).

Are the SNR ratio and attenuation figures ok?

BT say we should get up to 5.5Mpbs. Our best speed test (from this site) has been 5336.75 and worse 4439.77. It averages aprpxox 5100 from this site.

I've just run a speed test from the BTSpeedTester and it gave 5257 kbps at 1pm today.

Is it worth tweaking with other tools, if so which and how?!

Thanks

You have made a good connection a little bit better. May get up to the next BRAS profile depending how stable the line rate was/is.

I'm afraid the upgrades don't seem to have made any significant difference - you've gained a little on the sync speed but lost a corresponding amount on the noise margin. There's not much scope for sync speed improvement anyway, as you're very near the maximum.

You're a little low on the actual speed though. You might try looking here for some suggestions on improving this.

Thanks.

I've also switched the cheap lead with the router to a cat 5e cable terminated at both ends with a RJ11 - so I don't think much more can be done - I'm happy with the speed though!

I tried the link, the stats come out as:
