LLU Marker on line incorrectly - Nobody will help!

[link to this post]

Hi, I've recently moved house and I've managed to get my phone line activated with BT.

The next step is broadband. I was recommended ADSL24 on this forum so I tried signing up with them, they told me there was an 'LLU Marker' on my line (meaning my line was previously connected to an LLU broadband service) and it would cost 40 to remove it.

The thing is, I live out in the middle of nowhere (my local exchange is Grindleford: http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange/SLGD) and LLU is most definately not available in my area, nor has it ever been, so clearly this marker is on my line in error.

ADSL24 told me to call BT to resolve the issue, so I did, and BT told me they would only call BT Wholesale and get the issue sorted if I signed up to their broadband service, which I don't want to do.

I said I would be happy to call BT Wholesale myself and they said this would not be possible.

So, has anyone else had this issue? Who do I call to get this issue resolved??

Thanks,

Andrew.

The gaining ISP (ADSL24 for you) should be sorting out the tag on line.

Ofcom advice here:

Try the BT tags team
0800 169 0934 (Mon-Fri 7:30am - 10pm)

ADSL24 can't call them on your behalf as you are not a customer of theirs. I'm not sure why they didn't give you this number though unless it is no longer valid - I got it from a different ISP about 6 months ago.

Nah, as John said, it's down to the provisioning isp to do the provisioning.

I think the situation has changed within the last few months, witness the new Ofcom advice.

Looks like it - no mention of that tag team number at all.

Obviously they had to go as I and no doubt many others found them very useful and Ofcom / BT couldn't be having that could they?

the 40 is the charge for a new connection, should that be required.

What does the whole text of the number checker have to say (minus the number if you're a sensitive type).

The tag on line team has been disbanded by BTW.

They now require the gaining ISP to magically know that the availability checker result stating there is a service on the line means there is an incorrect tag on the line. That part of the process is plainly silly on BT's part.

Once it is established that there is a tag where there should not be - ie once the ISP has rejected the order on the basis that there is a service or tag on the line and the customer has responded stating there is no service on the line (or that they have no idea what the ISP is referring to) the ISP can then raise a request with BTW to get the tag cleared from the line and it's usually removed in 5 working days following which the ISP can place the activation order to occur another 5 working days later.

The advise you were given is out of date. You cannot call BT directly for this as they wont speak to you any more.

ADSL24 need to ask Enta to raise the matter of the tag with BT Wholesale.

Actually they are trying to make the people who get paid the money to do the work, if it is failing a lot then it may re-appear perhaps they could fund it with a tax on the providers....
