Connection Problems

[link to this post]

I have been on broadband for several years and have never lost connection until 2 weeks ago when my router lost connection for about 3 days. I reported it to my ISP who tested the line then passed it on to BT.

I was told that it was likely to be a 'card' at the exchange which probably needed changing, so I assume the card was changed and I regained my connection until last Friday when I lost connection again but this time only for a few hours. I reported to my ISP again and they said they would pass it on to BT and let them know it was now intermittent.

Since then, I have lost connection continuously and have not been able to have a connection for up to an hour. Does anybody have any idea what the problem could be? I would have thought that if the initial problem was the card at the exchange which has now been replaced then the problem should have been resolved by now or am I wrong?

Thanks

Jay

Check all the equipment at your end, make sure everything is in working order. This should include your router, ADSL filter(s), cabling (telephone and data), and also if you have any other electrical equipmwnt which could cause interference.

Support guide to intermittent faults

I have checked everything and cannot find any problems here - Just spoke to my ISP again and they now claim that BT say that they have fixed the problem, I am beginning to think that someone somewhere is not being very honest because all of a sudden, my connection is up again and the problem always seems to occur at the end of the week/weekend.

Lol smile ... we just found using MediaWiki a good way to document a lot of stuff. Due to the popularity of Wikipedia, its familiar to a lot of people.

Just to let you know that the problem got worse and my ISP tried to claim that my hardware or wiring was at fault at which point I smelt a rat and inspite of their underhand tactics, I have managed to get my MAC code and take my business elsewhere.

The problem has now been resolved.

Thanks
