Does your connection drop every time you use the landline, regardless of outgoing or incoming calls ?
Can you hear any noise on the line, crackles or hisses during a call ?
If the line is dropping every time the landline is used, it could be either a faulty faceplate, or a corroded/damaged joint/cable on your line somewhere.
Possibly an HR ( High Resistance ) disconnection fault. Extra current that flows during a phone call changes characteristics of a corroded joint.
You can double-check your filtered faceplate by unscrewing the faceplate and using a standard plug-in filter into the test socket on the master socket behind the faceplate. ( sorry if I'm stating obvious )
If it still drops without the phone connected, I still suspect REIN.
If you use your Netgear to run routerstats, I'd advise running the latest firmware for it. ( 3.01.38UK ) DG834Gv1 Page
Latest firmware has newer ADSL modem driver that should partially fix line stability problem that occured with noiser lines. I think the 2-wire and home hub use different chipsets, so should be more stable.
